A child at the wheel of a tractor, an enormous landscape, and the irresistible feeling of having the whole world ahead: The Little Farmer celebrates the imagination of childhood. Growing up in the Mississippi-Arkansas Delta, I knew farm equipment as part of everyday life rather than a novelty. Children learned early what it meant to contribute and to take responsibility. Yet there was also room for wonder, adventure, and dreaming. I used vivid color and textured acrylic to bring that spirit to the surface. The tractor seems almost larger than life, as so many things do when we're young. This piece is about the pride of being useful and the innocence of believing even the biggest jobs—and dreams—might one day be ours.
